        "content": "<p>Chairman of the House of Representatives\u2019 Commission XI, Mukhamad\nMisbakhun, responded to the statement by the 10th and 12th Vice\nPresident of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), regarding the discourse on\nincreasing the price of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) by emphasising the\nimportance of using the latest data in assessing the national fiscal\ncondition.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that the data presented needs to be viewed in the latest\ncontext, given that fiscal dynamics and the state revenue and\nexpenditure budget (APBN) continue to evolve.<\/p>\n<p>According to Misbakhun, policies related to subsidised BBM have\nundergone careful calculations by the government, particularly the\nMinistry of Finance (Kemenkeu), taking into account various factors,\nincluding fiscal capacity and protection of public purchasing power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision not to raise the price of subsidised BBM is the result\nof mature, cautious calculations that consider fiscal carrying capacity,\nwhile also protecting the public from inflationary pressures,\u201d Misbakhun\nsaid in a press release received by Kompas.com on Thursday\n(9\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He explained that during a meeting with Commission XI of the House of\nRepresentatives, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa conveyed that the\nprice of subsidised BBM is projected to remain stable until the end of\n2026, even assuming a global oil price of 100 US dollars per barrel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, the food stock managed by Bulog is recorded at around 4.4\nmillion tonnes, the highest in history, stored in various warehouses\nacross Indonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Misbakhun, who also serves as Chairman of the National Leadership\nCouncil of the Indonesian Independent Workers\u2019 Central Organisation\n(Depinas Soksi), reminded of the importance of caution in delivering\nanalyses in the public sphere to avoid creating inaccurate perceptions\namong the public.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that, as a national figure, the delivery of views should\nprioritise accurate data and consider its impact on social and economic\nstability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a global situation full of uncertainties, narratives conveyed to\nthe public need to be calming and strengthen optimism, so that the\npublic remains calm and is not affected by issues that could potentially\ncause anxiety,\u201d Misbakhun said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Misbakhun, synergy between the government and national\nfigures is key to maintaining conduciveness, so that the public can\ncarry out activities safely and well without being disrupted by\nexcessive worries regarding price increase issues or economic\nconditions.<\/p>",
