Perum Bulog's Director General, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, observed a sharp increase in Minyakita consumption during a market inspection in South Jakarta, attributing it to rising plastic prices that have prompted consumers to switch from bulk oil. To address the heightened demand and prevent price pressures, Bulog has requested additional quotas from the Ministry of Trade and plans to bolster distribution to traditional markets and the Food Supply and Price Stability Network (SP2KP) post-Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. The inspection also confirmed stable prices for rice, eggs, and onions, with national rice stocks at 4.75 million tonnes following a 49.2% procurement rate, while beef prices have risen ahead of Eid al-Adha, prompting coordination for increased frozen meat supplies.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Perum Bulog’s Director General, Ahmad
Rizal Ramdhani, discovered a surge in Minyakita consumption while
inspecting Pasar Minggu in South Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
According to him, this increase in demand was triggered by the rise in
plastic prices, which has driven a shift in consumption from bulk oil.
He, along with Bulog executives, the South Jakarta Industry and Trade
Office, and Perumda Pasar Jaya, conducted the inspection to ensure that
food prices and supplies remain stable at the market level.

“The rise in plastic prices has affected bulk oil. Consumers are
switching to Minyakita, thus increasing its demand,” said Rizal.

He assessed that this surge in demand requires an immediate increase
in Minyakita availability in the market to avoid triggering price
pressures at the consumer level. Therefore, Bulog has submitted a
request for additional Minyakita quotas to the Ministry of Trade to meet
national needs, particularly in traditional markets and the Food Supply
and Price Stability Network (SP2KP).

“After Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are over, we will push distribution
back to SP2KP markets,” said Rizal.

This strengthening of distribution follows a previous prioritisation
of Minyakita supplies for food assistance programmes during Ramadan and
Eid al-Fitr, which temporarily reduced supplies in the market.

During the inspection, Bulog also noted that rice and cooking oil
prices remain at the highest retail price (HET) levels. National rice
stocks have even shown a significant increase in line with this year’s
high procurement.

“Bulog’s current stock is around 4.75 million tonnes. Procurement has
exceeded 1.96 million tonnes or about 49.2 percent,” stated Rizal.

He added that the majority of other food commodities, such as eggs
and onions, are in stable condition. The price of broiler eggs is
recorded at around Rp 30,000 per kilogram, village chicken eggs at Rp
3,000 per egg, and duck eggs at Rp 3,500 per egg.

Bulog is also monitoring the increase in beef prices, which have
risen from Rp 140,000 to Rp 150,000 per kilogram, triggered by supply
withholding ahead of Eid al-Adha.

Coordination with state-owned food enterprises will be carried out to
increase frozen meat supplies to the market in order to bring prices
back to reference levels. Bulog assures that it will continue to monitor
developments in food prices and supplies through routine inspections in
various markets to maintain stability.
",
