        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) is\naccelerating digital infrastructure development, boosting\ntelecommunications operator investment, and expanding internet access to\nremote areas in a bid to achieve a national average internet speed\ntarget of 100 Mbps. Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs\nNezar Patria stressed that quality internet access has become a basic\nnecessity for society. Therefore, the government is targeting a national\naverage internet speed of 100 Mbps within the next two years. \u201cWe are\ncommitted to reaching 100 Mbps in about two years\u2019 time, evenly\ndistributed and at increasingly affordable prices,\u201d Nezar said in a\nstatement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday. He also emphasised that the\ngovernment continues to ensure connectivity development reaches all\nparts of Indonesia while supporting the growth of the digital economy.\nImproved digital infrastructure will serve as a foundation for the\ndevelopment of the digital economy, increased public productivity, and\nexpanded access to digital-based public services. To achieve this\ntarget, Kemkomdigi continues to encourage telecommunications operators\nto increase network investment, including expanding fibre optic\nconstruction, strengthening fixed broadband services, and utilising\nsatellite technology to reach areas that are not yet optimally served.\nNezar stressed that equalising internet access remains a major task for\nthe government. Although digital infrastructure development is ongoing,\nreports of areas without signal still emerge, including in several\nregions on Java Island. \u201cWe must close the remaining infrastructure and\nconnectivity gaps, including addressing areas still experiencing blank\nspots,\u201d he said. In addition to sustaining infrastructure development in\nunderdeveloped regions through government programmes, network\nstrengthening is also carried out through a combination of fibre optics,\nfixed broadband services, and satellite connectivity so that the public\ncan obtain more reliable internet services. Nezar noted that the\npublic\u2019s need for connectivity continues to grow. In fact, experience\nduring disasters shows that restoring telecommunications networks is one\nof the most urgent needs after logistical assistance. \u201cWhen a disaster\noccurs, apart from requests for food aid, people also ask for signal\nrestoration.
