Indonesia's Directorate General of Land Transportation conducted safety inspections on over 963,000 bus departures and 993,000 arrivals at 115 Type A terminals from January 1 to April 3, 2026, revealing that approximately 59% violated regulations, including route deviations, expired vehicle test certificates, and invalid supervision cards. The ministry has identified and taken action against five major bus companies responsible for the most violations, emphasizing the need for stricter oversight to ensure public safety and traffic efficiency. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to prioritizing passenger safety by enforcing compliance among operators and drivers.

The Directorate General of Land Transportation, Ministry of
Transportation, continues to enhance safety aspects in passenger
transport by conducting safety inspections (ramp checks) on bus fleets
at Type A Terminals (TTA) across Indonesia. These safety inspections are
carried out using the Terminal Online System (TOS) application.

Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan revealed that
during the supervision and inspection period from 1 January to 3 April
2026, the Directorate General of Land Transportation examined 963,859
departing trips at 115 TTA locations.

From these inspections, the Directorate General found 576,280 trips
(59.78%) that violated regulations, while 387,576 trips (40.21%) were
declared non-violating.

“The types of violations are varied, ranging from route deviations,
expired proof of passing tests or BLU, and KPS that have also exceeded
their validity period,” said Aan in Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026).

The details of violations found on buses departing from 115 TTA
locations include 325,913 route deviation violations, followed by
154,236 violations of proof of passing test validity periods, and
278,179 violations of supervision card (KPS) validity periods or permits
for organising passenger transport.

Aan also provided a recapitulation of inspections on incoming
passenger transport at 115 TTA locations for the period 1 January–3
April 2026, with a total of 993,155 bus trips inspected. The results
showed 401,981 trips (40.48%) with no violations, while 591,174 trips
(59.52%) were declared violating.

“Many violations are still found in incoming passenger transport at
terminals, so they are not declared roadworthy. We have conducted ramp
checks on more than 900,000 bus trips arriving at terminals, and over
500,000 or about 59% of them were declared to have violations,” Aan
continued.

Based on the inspection results for violating buses, several
violations were found, including 324,131 route deviation violations,
168,031 proof of passing test validity period violations, and 296,140
KPS validity period violations.

“We have also recorded and taken action against five bus companies
(PO) with the most violations, namely PT SSR, PT EMPS, PT BDM, PT PP,
and PT SJML. We have requested clarification from these five operators
regarding the violations found on their vehicles,” said Aan.

The Directorate General of Land Transportation will use the results
of this supervision and inspection as material for evaluation and will
consistently tighten oversight of passenger transport in the future for
the safety of the public and smooth traffic. Aan hopes that all
passenger transport operators will comply with all applicable provisions
for the safety and comfort of passengers.

“Our principle is that safety is the priority. Therefore, we urge all
bus operators and drivers to operate roadworthy fleets. Ensure that
official vehicle completeness documents that are still valid are always
carried, ensure drivers are in good health, and always prioritise
passenger safety and comfort,” said Aan.
",
