        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) and the Ministry of Housing\nand Settlement Areas (PKP) are collaborating to renovate the homes of\nparents of People\u2019s School students that are unfit for habitation. This\nagreement was announced by Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf,\nknown as Gus Ipul, following a meeting with Housing and Settlement Areas\nMinister Maruarar Sirait and her team at the Kemensos office in Central\nJakarta on Monday, 11 May 2026. Gus Ipul stated that the People\u2019s School\nserves as a miniature model for poverty alleviation, as enshrined in\nPresidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025. \u201cWhere the children attend\nschool, their parents are empowered and supported through other\nstrategic presidential programmes. One of these is assistance for\nfamilies or parents of People\u2019s School students with the construction or\nrenovation of unfit homes to make them more habitable, supported by the\nMinistry of Housing and Settlement Areas,\u201d said Gus Ipul. Kemensos has\nproposed renovating 10,000 homes owned by parents of People\u2019s School\nstudents this year. Gus Ipul revealed that 5,000 of these homes have\nbeen confirmed eligible for the renovation programme, while the\nremainder are still undergoing verification and validation. One of the\nrequirements is clear ownership status for the land and home, which must\nbe personally owned. \u201cCurrently, there are 5,000 with clear ownership\nstatus. Ground checks have been conducted in the field, and they have\nbeen confirmed to meet the criteria. There are certain conditions that\nmust be fulfilled, primarily regarding ownership, including land\nownership,\u201d explained Gus Ipul. Gus Ipul elaborated that the renovation\nprocess will be carried out in stages. Meanwhile, for homes of parents\nof students that do not meet the criteria due to tenancy, borrowing, or\nrenting status, alternative solutions will be sought. \u201cWe will find\nsolutions for those who do not yet meet the criteria. We will strive to\nfind solutions. Perhaps we will collaborate with various parties,\u201d he\nsaid. Gus Ipul also expressed gratitude for the support from the\nMinistry of PKP regarding this programme. He noted that Minister\nMaruarar has shown serious attention to the implementation of the\nPeople\u2019s School. \u201cI thank Mr Ara for allocating a significant portion of\nthe programme for the families or parents of People\u2019s School students,\u201d\nsaid Gus Ipul. On the same occasion, Housing and Settlement Areas\nMinister Maruarar Sirait affirmed that her ministry strongly supports\nthe renovation programme for the homes of People\u2019s School students\u2019\nparents. She stated that in 2025, the Ministry of PKP had also provided\nsupport to renovate 1,000 homes of such parents. She added that this\nyear, the Ministry of PKP will renovate the homes as proposed by\nKemensos, namely 10,000 homes. The renovations will be funded from the\nMinistry of PKP\u2019s budget. \u201cSo we have decided to allocate the number\nrequested by the Ministry of Social Affairs, 10,000 (homes), we agree\nand support (renovating) 10,000 (homes). And we are determined that this\nprogramme must be very successful,\u201d she said. She requested that\nKemensos promptly submit the data for the homes to be renovated to the\nMinistry of PKP. \u201cThe data should arrive no later than 1 June (2026), if\npossible. Please hurry so we can move quickly,\u201d she explained.<\/p>",
