Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs is currently
developing a Standard Indonesian Method for Learning to Read the Quran,
designed to serve as a national reference for more systematic and
measurable Quranic reading instruction in various religious educational
institutions.

“Quranic learning is the primary foundation. The state must ensure
that the methods used by the public meet good standards, are easy to
understand, and still uphold correct principles,” said Minister of
Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar in Jakarta, Thursday.

The development of this Quran reading method was discussed during a
meeting between the Minister of Religious Affairs and the Quranic
Learning Method Writing Team at the Ministry of Religious Affairs’
central office in Jakarta.

The Minister expressed full support for the accelerated completion of
the book. He believes that the presence of a standard method is part of
the state’s commitment to ensuring that quality religious education
services can be felt at the most basic levels of society.

“Therefore, we encourage that this method be perfected and launched
as soon as possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Quranic Education at
the Directorate General of Early Childhood and Islamic Boarding School
Education, Aziz Syaifuddin, said that Indonesia currently does not have
a standard national method for reading the Quran that has been developed
by the government.

Therefore, he said, the preparation of this book is an important step
to present a learning guide that has the distinctive character of the
Ministry of Religious Affairs and can be widely applied in society.

According to him, the method is expected to improve the quality of
Quranic learning from early childhood education centres (TPA),
madrasahs, to Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Before its launch,
the book will go through a public testing phase involving Quran experts
to obtain input and refine the content.

“We want to ensure that this method is academically and practically
sound, so that it can truly improve the quality of Quranic learning,” he
said.
",
