Jakarta - The Ministry of National Development Planning\n(PPN)\/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) is advocating for\nthe strengthening of responsible, educational, honest, objective, and\nhealthy media industry journalism (known locally as \u201cbejos\u201d).<\/p>\n
The announcement was made by Senior Planner Yunes Herawati from the\nIdeology, Nationalism, Politics, and Democracy Directorate (IKPD) of the\nMinistry of PPN\/Bappenas whilst presenting the national development plan\nfor the press covering the 2025-2029 period at the Press Council\nBuilding in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom our IKPD Directorate, we are communicating that during\n2025-2029 we are promoting the strengthening of a responsible,\neducational, honest, objective, and healthy media industry,\u201d Yunes\nsaid.<\/p>\n
She also noted that plans for press strengthening are enshrined in\nLaw Number 59 of 2024 concerning the National Long-Term Development Plan\n2025-2045.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have also conveyed that the strengthening of the press in this\nnational development planning is outlined in Law Number 59 of 2024\nregarding the National Long-Term Development Plan 2025-2045,\u201d she\nstated.<\/p>\n
Regarding press and media strengthening, Yunes highlighted that the\nMinistry of PPN recommends utilising artificial intelligence (AI)\nplatforms in journalism in accordance with healthy industry\nstandards.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne aspect of our recommendations concerning healthy media and press\nis in the technology sphere, recommending the use of digital technology\nand AI to strengthen the media and press,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n
According to her, AI and the transformation of public spaces have\nbecome determinants of information visibility and promise economic\nbenefits for media outlets.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe era of AI and transformation of the public sphere has become a\nkey determinant of public information visibility. Through AI and the\ntransformation of the public sphere, this creates economic capital\nopportunities for leading media organisations,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
Based on this reasoning, the Ministry of PPN believes that AI\nutilisation is not necessarily harmful but can provide positive\npotential in media development to ensure better quality of life for\ncitizens in the future.<\/p>\n
To facilitate AI platform implementation, the Ministry of PPN has\nemphasised that regulations governing AI use are in place, as outlined\nin Circular Number 9 of 2023 on Artificial Intelligence Ethics and Press\nCouncil Regulation Number 1 of 2025 on Guidelines for Artificial\nIntelligence Use.<\/p>\n
