Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower is actively preparing a competent workforce to meet the demands of the burgeoning green jobs sector, particularly driven by the rapid growth in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Deputy Minister Afriansyah Noor highlighted the necessity of transitioning to a green economy, with EV sales surging from around 10,000 units in 2022 to over 100,000 units in 2025, necessitating skills in electric automotive technology, digitalisation, and supporting green industries. Through collaborations like the donation of five vehicles from PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia to vocational training centres, the government aims to foster synergies between industry, training institutions, and policymakers to build a productive workforce ready for future challenges.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor stated
that the government is striving to prepare competent workers to fill the
needs of the green jobs industry in Indonesia, following the rapidly
growing electric vehicle (EV) market in recent years. In his statement
in Jakarta on Wednesday, the Deputy Minister assessed that the
transformation towards a green economy is no longer a choice but a
necessity, with the EV sector’s momentum becoming a key pillar in the
ecosystem of future green economy jobs. “The very rapid market momentum
over the past three years will certainly have a direct impact on the
need for workers with competencies in electric-based automotive
technology, digitalisation, and skills supporting the green industry,”
he said. Based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry
Association (Gaikindo), electric vehicle sales in Indonesia show a very
significant upward trend, from around 10,000 units in 2022 to more than
100,000 units in 2025. One approach being taken is through close
collaboration with industry partners such as the automotive manufacturer
PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) in vocational education.
“In 2023, PT HMMI provided a grant of five vehicles for the development
of vocational training in the automotive field at the Bandung Large
Centre for Vocational Training and Productivity (BBPVP). This is a
concrete form of strategic collaboration that we hope will continue,
followed by other companies,” he said. “Synergy between the government,
industry, and training institutions is key to enabling Indonesia to
create a productive workforce ready to face future challenges in the
green jobs sector,” said Deputy Minister Ferry.
",
