        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is\nstrengthening literacy for small and medium-sized industry (IKM) players\nin the crafts and fashion sectors to enhance competitiveness in the\nglobal market.<\/p>\n<p>Industry Minister (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, in a\nstatement in Jakarta on Tuesday, said this effort is being carried out\nthrough the reinforcement of business strategy literacy, market\nunderstanding, and product value enhancement to compete in an\nincreasingly competitive industrial landscape.<\/p>\n<p>His side assessed that rapid market changes not only affect\nconsumption patterns but also require industry players to present\nproducts relevant to societal needs and lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, according to him, improving business literacy is key for\nIKM to optimally capture global opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProduct innovations created by designers, artisans, or producers\nmust align with current market needs,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister believes that Indonesian fashion and crafts designers\nand artisans possess the ability, ideas, innovation, and skills to\nproduce high-quality products.<\/p>\n<p>However, these abilities need to be supported by proper business\nstrategy understanding and market research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDomestic fashion and crafts products are already worthy of standing\nalongside, even surpassing, foreign products. However, the right\nstrategies are needed to elevate the business,\u201d stated the Minister.<\/p>\n<p>Kemenperin records that the fashion and crafts sector has significant\nexport potential that continues to show growth.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, the export value of this sector reached 806.63 million US\ndollars, or an increase of 15.46 percent compared to the previous\nyear.<\/p>\n<p>Director General of Small, Medium, and Various Industries (IKMA) of\nKemenperin, Reni Yanita, stated that literacy enhancement for IKM\nplayers is conducted routinely, one of which is through the Creative\nTalk event organised by the Fashion and Crafts Industry Empowerment\nCentre (BPIFK) in Bali.<\/p>\n<p>In the Creative Talk 1 session titled Designing Product Value\nAccording to Market Needs, held on 16 April 2026 in Bali, participants\nconsisting of academics, practitioners, communities, and IKM players\ndiscussed strategies for product design to achieve higher added\nvalue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a government strategy to increase the capacity of IKM human\nresources, particularly to understand market needs and design\nvalue-added products. Strengthening business literacy and design\nstrategies is essential so that IKM fashion and crafts products are not\nonly superior aesthetically but also strong commercially,\u201d said\nReni.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the Indonesian fashion and crafts industry has\ngreat economic potential, but consistency in presenting relevant\nproducts remains a challenge for some IKM players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis series of activities is designed as a strategic step to\nstrengthen the competitiveness of the Indonesian fashion and crafts\nindustry through various coaching programmes, such as workshops and\nongoing technical guidance,\u201d she said.<\/p>",
