The Indonesian Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) has pledged to increase vigilance against online gambling and scamming operations involving foreign nationals within the country. Minister Agus Andrianto highlighted ongoing collaborations with other ministries, police, and the military to strengthen oversight and protect national sovereignty amid rising digital threats. He linked the issue to visa-free policies allowing easy entry, particularly as syndicates flee crackdowns in neighbouring countries like Cambodia.

Bandarlampung, Lampung - The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections
(Kemenimipas) has affirmed that it will enhance vigilance against online
gambling (judol) and scamming networks involving foreign nationals
(WNA). “Of course, we will and must increase vigilance against suspected
judol or scamming networks whose perpetrators are foreigners present in
Indonesia,” said Minister of Imipas Agus Andrianto in Bandarlampung,
Lampung, on Monday. He stated that as part of tightening supervision,
Kemenimipas continues to collaborate with relevant ministries and
institutions as well as police and TNI ranks to provide protection and
state sovereignty. “Supervision of online gambling and international
scamming perpetrator networks will continue to be tightened.
Cross-ministry and institutional collaboration will also be strengthened
to safeguard public security from digital crime threats,” he said. He
suspects that the perpetrators (WNA) of the judol and scamming
syndicates are individuals who can enter and exit freely through
visa-free policies. “These are people with visa-free access. Even
citizens from ASEAN countries also enjoy visa-free facilities. However,
the impact of implementing this visa-free regime can indeed create
conditions like those happening now,” he said. Moreover, he added, in
Cambodia there are currently many raid activities, so the syndicates are
likely seeking other places to operate freely. “They are in Indonesia
for one or two months. The ones in Hayam Wuruk (West Jakarta) have only
been here for two months; in Kepri we arrested 210 judol syndicate
members just one month ago, and in Tangerang 15 people were also
arrested recently. So, we remain focused. We are not negligent as we are
also conducting supervision activities,” he said.
",
