        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) has\ninaugurated 13 new high-ranking officials within the Directorate General\nof Immigration. The appointments fill vacancies, including those left by\nofficials from West Jakarta and West Java who were caught in a sting\noperation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).<\/p>\n<p>Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated that the\ninauguration was also to replace officials who had retired. \u201cYes, there\nare two vacancies related to the KPK operation, and also some due to\nretirement. So we are carrying out a periodic refresh,\u201d Hendarsam said\nafter the ceremony in South Jakarta on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed hope that the new officials would perform their duties\nwell and help restore public trust. \u201cHopefully all the inaugurated\nofficials will be trustworthy and able to respond to challenges and\nregain public confidence,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK had previously conducted a sting operation targeting\nimmigration officials in West Jakarta and West Java. The case relates to\nlimited stay permits for foreign nationals. The KPK has also named\nformer Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim as a\nsuspect in the case, bringing the total number of suspects to eight.<\/p>",
