        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) has initiated a paradigm shift in\nintegrated law enforcement concerning forestry and illegal wildlife and\nplants (TSL) in response to evolving crime trends and their increasingly\ncomplex impacts.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement confirmed from Jakarta on Sunday, Director General of\nLaw Enforcement (Gakkum) at the Ministry of Forestry Dwi Januanto\nNugroho emphasised the importance of applying a multidisciplinary\n(multi-door) legal approach to dismantle organised crime related to\nforestry and wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe multi-door approach is becoming increasingly important. Various\navailable legal instruments need to be utilised optimally, including\ncorruption offences, taxation, customs, and the financial services\nsector. With this approach, we can expand the scope of law enforcement\nwhile increasing leverage in dismantling larger criminal networks,\u201d said\nDwi Januanto Nugroho.<\/p>\n<p>To this end, the Directorate General of Law Enforcement at the\nMinistry of Forestry, together with the Law Enforcement for Sustainable\nViable Ecosystems and Biodiversity Resilience through Multi-Sectors\nEngagement (LEVERAGE) programme, organised a Multistakeholder Meeting on\nIntegrated Forestry and Wildlife Law Enforcement as a strategic step to\ntackle the illegal trade in wildlife and plants, held on 7\u20138 August 2026\nin Bogor, West Java.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to place asset recovery, severing the economic profits from\ncrime, and forensic science support as key parts of the strategy,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>This is because effective law enforcement is not only measured by the\nnumber of perpetrators convicted, but by the state\u2019s ability to build\nprecise, science-based evidence and eliminate the economic motivation\nbehind such crimes.<\/p>\n<p>The forum was attended by a number of relevant figures, including\nDirector D of the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes at the\nAttorney General\u2019s Office Dwi Agus Arfianto, Director of Prosecution at\nthe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Budhi Sarumpaet, Director of\nLaw Enforcement at the Directorate General of Taxes Samingun, and High\nJudicial Judge BSDK\/Member for Environmental Affairs at the Supreme\nCourt R.
