        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has stated that\nenvironmental law enforcement will target parties responsible for\npollution, including in the case of the Bantargebang Integrated Waste\nProcessing Facility (TPST).<\/p>\n<p>Rizal Irawan, Deputy for Law Enforcement at the KLH\/Environmental\nControl Agency (BPLH), said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the ministry is\ninvestigating the waste landslide that killed seven people at TPST\nBantargebang. The ministry had previously conducted investigations into\nthe waste disposal site, which is managed by the Jakarta Provincial\nGovernment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaw enforcement can target parties responsible according to their\nrespective roles, both operators and those with authority,\u201d said Deputy\nRizal.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement is conducted when serious violations of Law No.\u00a018 of\n2008 on Waste Management and Law No.\u00a032 of 2009 on Environmental\nProtection and Management are found. Legal action can be taken when\nnon-standard waste management practices are discovered that cause\npollution or endanger safety, as in the Bantargebang case.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding summoning the TPST Bantargebang operators and the Jakarta\nProvincial Government, Rizal stated this can be done if violations of\nenvironmental regulations are indicated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the investigation reveals indications of violations of Law No.\u00a032\nof 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management and Law No.\u00a018 of\n2008 on Waste Management, law enforcement will be carried out according\nto applicable regulations, including the possibility of summoning\nresponsible parties,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) of\nJakarta announced that all victims of the waste landslide at TPST\nBantargebang had been found on Tuesday (10 March). Seven people died\nfrom being buried in waste, with six others rescued successfully.<\/p>\n<p>Landslides have previously occurred at TPST Bantargebang in 2003 and\nin 2006 when zone 3 collapsed, resulting in fatalities and burying\ndozens of waste pickers. Additionally, in January 2026, a section at\nTPST Bantargebang collapsed, pulling three waste trucks to the bottom of\nthe river.<\/p>",
