        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Ministry of Culture (Kemenbud), through the Museum and\nCultural Heritage as well as the Directorate of Fostering Faith in the\nOne God and Indigenous Communities (BKMA), is organising the Nusantara\nHeritage Procession in 2026 at the Borobudur area in Central Java. This\nevent forms part of the commemoration of National Keris Day and World\nHeritage Day, while also serving as an effort to strengthen the\npreservation of culture as a living heritage. The Nusantara Heritage\nProcession provides a space for cultural expression that brings together\ntraditions, heirlooms, and active community participation. Involving\nrepresentatives from 20 supporting villages in the Borobudur area, the\nactivity reflects the important role of the community in maintaining the\ncontinuity of cultural values. As one of the World Heritage sites,\nBorobudur not only holds historical and archaeological value but also\nserves as a living and developing centre of cultural interaction within\nthe community. Culture Minister Fadli Zon, in his remarks, expressed his\nenthusiasm because this procession is the first ever held in the\nBorobudur Temple area, involving all stakeholders related to cultural\nheritage from cultural figures, artists, and also the 20 villages around\nthe Borobudur region, and even from outside Magelang City. Furthermore,\nFadli stated that amid Borobudur\u2019s position as an icon of civilisation\nand a global tourism destination, the organisation of this procession\naffirms that the strength of the Borobudur area lies not only in the\ngrandeur of its temple. But also in the heirloom traditions, noble\nvalues, rituals, arts, customs, and collective memory still upheld by\nthe community. \u201cHopefully (in the future) we can organise even more\ncultural activities, because Borobudur is also a living heritage.\nReligious and cultural activities are an inseparable part of Indonesian\nsociety,\u201d Fadli hoped, in a written statement on Monday (19\/4\/2026). \u201cWe\nhope that with the improving services at Borobudur Temple, it becomes\nbetter known, more accessible for people with disabilities, friendly to\nseniors, and of course for people from various backgrounds,\u201d he added.\nAccording to Fadli, the extraordinary spirit of mutual cooperation from\nthe community of the 20 villages in Borobudur is important. \u201cWe hope the\nspirit of mutual cooperation we witnessed today can be continued to\nadvance us together. The existence of Borobudur Temple must be felt\ntogether, including its benefits for the community around Borobudur and\nthe wider community throughout Indonesia,\u201d Fadli said. The Nusantara\nHeritage Procession is organised with the participation of around 1,000\nparticipants, involving village representatives and cultural\ncommunities. The event begins at the Beringin Gate, followed by a\ncultural procession carrying heirlooms to the Kenari Terrace. The series\nof activities continues with interfaith prayers and cultural rituals, as\nwell as the handover of conservation seedlings as a symbol of\nsustainability in preservation. The event concludes with a communal\nfeast or shared meal (umbul bojono), reflecting values of togetherness\nand harmony. The 2026 Nusantara Heritage Procession serves as an\nimportant momentum in strengthening synergy between the government,\ncommunities, and society in safeguarding the nation\u2019s cultural heritage,\nwhile also presenting an authentic cultural experience in the Borobudur\narea.
