        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) has partnered with the\nMuhammadiyah Central Leadership Tabligh Council to develop cooperatives\nbased in places of worship, including mosques, as part of an effort to\nstrengthen the economy of communities at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of\nUnderstanding (MoU) signed by Kemenkop and the Muhammadiyah Central\nLeadership Tabligh Council in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, stated in a ministry\npress release that the development of cooperatives based on places of\nworship will begin with mosque-based cooperatives. According to Ferry,\nmosque-based cooperatives can learn from the experience of cooperatives\nwithin Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which have successfully\ngrown to support community economic activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will encourage the establishment of cooperative business\nentities. It is hoped that this can be a good start to creating a\nhistory of more modern and professional cooperative development in the\nfuture,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Quantum Institute\nFoundation, Akhyar Adi Hidayat, noted that the Muhammadiyah Tabligh\nCouncil network, which covers approximately 12,000 mosques, has the\npotential to serve as a foundation for community-based cooperative\ndevelopment. \u201cThere are 12,000 mosques under the Muhammadiyah Tabligh\nCouncil, and all participants or congregants are real. The database is\ncollected within a single digital database,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Tabligh Council,\nFathurrahman Kamal, stated that they wish to develop the function of the\nmosque as an ecosystem that can help meet the needs of society at the\ngrassroots level.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the partnership with Muhammadiyah, Kemenkop also\nsigned an MoU with the President\u2019s Special Envoy for Economy and\nBanking, Setiawan Ichlas, to strengthen the development of the\ncooperative ecosystem. Through this cooperation, Kemenkop will provide\ndata and information, as well as identify cooperatives based on targets\nand business sectors. The Ministry will also provide assistance and\ninstitutional strengthening for these cooperatives.<\/p>\n<p>The President\u2019s Special Envoy for Economy and Banking is expected to\nstrengthen coordination with financial institutions and relevant\nstakeholders to expand access to financing and formulate financing\nschemes that align with the needs of cooperatives. Ferry noted that\naccess to financing is a crucial component in strengthening cooperatives\nso they can expand their business activities.<\/p>",
