The Ministry of Communications and Digital of the Republic of\nIndonesia has severed access to three Private Scope Electronic System\nOperators (PSE) that have failed to demonstrate genuine commitment to\nfulfilling their registration obligations. Among them is a major\nUS-based e-commerce platform.<\/p>\n
The three entities subjected to sanctions are PT Dunia Luxindo, the\nowner of the Bath and Body Works brand, eBay Inc., and KLM Royal Dutch\nAirlines.<\/p>\n
Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of\nCommunications and Digital, Alexander Sabar, stated that the access\ntermination constitutes an administrative sanction against PSE operators\nthat do not comply with prevailing regulations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis access blocking of electronic systems is a form of\nadministrative sanction imposed by the Minister of Communications and\nDigital on Private Scope PSE operators that have not undertaken\nregistration efforts,\u201d said Alexander in a written statement in Jakarta\non Sunday (29\/6).<\/p>\n
The decision is in accordance with Article 7 of Minister of\nCommunications and Informatics Regulation Number 5 of 2020 concerning\nPrivate Scope Electronic System Operators.<\/p>\n
Alexander emphasised that prior to carrying out the access\ntermination, the Ministry had issued notification letters, warning\nletters, and press releases regarding the registration obligation.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, up to the deadline set following the issuance of warning\nletters, the three PSE operators still showed no effort to fulfil their\nregistration obligations,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
The access termination measure represents a commitment to law\nenforcement to ensure the national digital space is more orderly and\naccountable. Furthermore, the Ministry seeks to create equal obligations\namong electronic system operators.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is also an effort to protect the public as users of digital\nservices from potential risks arising from services that are not\nofficially registered,\u201d Alexander Sabar affirmed.<\/p>\n
