Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and Danantara CEO Rosan\nRoeslani signed the agreement at Danantara\u2019s office in Jakarta on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cSigning this memorandum of understanding reflects a strong spirit of\ncollaboration and a shared vision to promote higher-quality, more\ncompetitive and sustainable tourism in Indonesia,\u201d Widiyanti said in a\nministry statement.<\/p>\n
The cooperation covers the exchange of tourism development data and\ninformation, tourism workforce capacity building, and the development of\ndestinations and tourism facilities and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
It also includes developing special-interest tourism products,\nstrengthening the tourism industry and investment, domestic and\ninternational marketing, and organizing tourism events.<\/p>\n
Widiyanti said tourism could drive investment, create jobs and\ngenerate economic value across regions.<\/p>\n
Indonesia\u2019s tourism sector generated US$18.27 billion in foreign\nexchange in 2025, equivalent to about Rp305.4 trillion, and contributed\nto employment for 25.91 million people.<\/p>\n
International tourist arrivals rose 5.71 percent in January-June 2026\nfrom the same period a year earlier, according to the government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese achievements show the resilience of Indonesia\u2019s tourism\nsector, which continues to grow and make a tangible contribution to the\nnational economy amid geopolitical dynamics,\u201d Widiyanti said.<\/p>\n
She said stronger cooperation with Danantara would help accelerate\ntourism development, with the agency\u2019s financing and investment capacity\nplaying a strategic role in developing destinations, infrastructure and\nthe tourism investment ecosystem.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope this spirit of collaboration can be maintained so that every\ncooperation opportunity can be developed productively, sustainably and\naccountably,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Rosan said tourism was a sector that could be developed rapidly and\ngenerate significant multiplier effects across industries.<\/p>\n
He described the partnership with the Tourism Ministry as a strategic\nstep to strengthen the tourism business sector.<\/p>\n
Rosan said the cooperation could include developing hotels under\nstate tourism holding company InJourney to improve visitor comfort and\nencourage tourists to stay longer at destinations.<\/p>\n
The two sides could also organize events to attract tourists and\nincrease economic activity in the tourism sector, he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it is not only about quantity, but also about tourists staying\nlonger and spending more, thereby creating a significant impact on the\neconomy, not only in the regions but also nationally,\u201d Rosan said.<\/p>\n
