Ministers to attend trade workshop<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Four cabinet ministers and the central bank
\ngovernor will present their keynote speeches at a three-day
\nworkshop of the Ministry of Trade, which is to begin today.<\/p>\n
\"Coordinating Minister for Industry and Trade Hartarto will
\npresent his paper on the government's policy on industry and
\ntrade, aimed to promote the efficiency and competitiveness of
\nIndonesia's products in the era of free trade,\" a trade ministry
\nspokeswoman, Lily Rosyana, said in a statement over the weekend.<\/p>\n
State Minister of Research and Technology B.J. Habibie will
\ndiscuss policies on technological development, Minister of Trade
\nSatrio B. Joedono on trade policies, Minister of Manpower Abdul
\nLatief on productivity enhancement and Governor of Bank Indonesia
\nJ. Soedradjad Djiwandono on macroeconomy policies supporting
\ncompetition.<\/p>\n
The trade ministry's first echelon officials and some business
\nexecutives will speak on the second and third days of the
\nworkshop which is to take place at the ministry's office.<\/p>\n
Fadel Muhammad, Hari Darmawan, Steve Sondakh, Dewi Motik
\nPramono and Bob Sadino will be among the speakers.<\/p>\n
All papers and topics to be discussed in the workshop will
\nfocus on free trade.<\/p>\n
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations has committed to
\nliberalizing trade among its members by the year 2003, while the
\nAsia Pacific Economic Cooperation will start liberalization in
\ntrade and investment by 2010 for its developed member economies
\nand by 2020 for its developing members. (kod)<\/p>",
