Ministers from the Red and White Cabinet and leaders of state\ninstitutions attended the opening of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress\nat Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Tambak Beras, Jombang, on\nThursday (27\/8).<\/p>\n
Among those present were Coordinating Minister for Community\nEmpowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Coordinating Minister for Food\nZulkifli Hasan, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of\nReligious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, and Minister of Home Affairs Tito\nKarnavian.<\/p>\n
Also in attendance were Minister of Women\u2019s Empowerment and Child\nProtection Arifah Fauzi, Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin,\nMinister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu\u2019ti, Minister of\nHajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, and Minister of Energy and Mineral\nResources Bahlil Lahadalia.<\/p>\n
The line-up of state officials was further completed with the arrival\nof several agency heads and security leaders. National Police Chief\nGeneral Listyo Sigit Prabowo attended to monitor and follow the opening\nproceedings.<\/p>\n
He was seated in the same row as Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah\nDahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and\nPresidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman.<\/p>\n
Parliamentary leaders, namely Speaker of the People\u2019s Consultative\nAssembly Ahmad Muzani and Deputy Speaker Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, were\nalso seen attending the event.<\/p>\n
Also present were Head of the National Nutrition Agency Sudaryono,\nChair of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority\nFriderica Widyasari Dewi, and Bank Indonesia Governor Destry\nDamayanti.<\/p>\n
Important cross-sector figures also attended. Among them were the\nwife of Indonesia\u2019s fourth president KH Abdurrahman Wahid and Mustasyar\nof the NU Executive Board Nyai Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, General Elections\nCommission Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin, General Chairman of\nMuhammadiyah Central Board Haedar Nashir, and East Java Governor\nKhofifah Indar Parawansa.<\/p>\n
From the NU leadership, Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar, General\nChairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf and\nother board members were present.<\/p>\n
Also attending were Indonesian Ulema Council Chairman KH Anwar\nIskandar, Deputy Rais Aam KH Afifuddin Muhajir, Deputy General Chairman\nKH Zulfikar Mustofa, Mustasyar KH Said Aqil Siroj, and members of the\nSyuriyah and Tanfidziyah councils.<\/p>\n
Other figures said to be present included Katib Aam KH Ahmad Said\nAsrori, Katib Syuriyah KH Abdul Ghaffar Rozin, Rais Professor Mohammad\nNuh, Treasurer Gus Gufron Arif, and Chairman KH Amin Said Husni.<\/p>\n
From East Java NU, General Chairman of the East Java Regional Board\nand caretaker of Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School KH Abdul Hakim\nMahfudz attended.<\/p>\n
The 35th NU Congress was also attended by caretakers of Islamic\nboarding schools from various regions, including KH Nurul Huda Jazuli of\nAl-Falah Ploso Kediri, KH Kafabihi Mahrus of Lirboyo Kediri, and KH\nHasib Wahab Chasbullah of Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang.<\/p>\n
Also present were KH Yusuf Chudlori of API Tegalrejo Magelang, KH\nAbdul Salam Syahid of Mambaul Ma\u2019arif Denanyar Jombang, and Gus Miftah\nMaulana of Ora Aji Sleman.<\/p>\n
Elder of Tambakberas Jombang, Ibu Nyai Mahfudhoh, also attended the\nevent.<\/p>\n
The opening agenda began with the singing of Indonesia Raya and the\nNU anthem Syubbanul Wathon. The event continued with the recitation of\nQuranic verses and shalawat, remarks from the East Java Governor,\nremarks from the host, a report from the Congress Organising Committee\nChairman, and the handover of congress materials from the committee\nchairman to the NU General Chairman.<\/p>\n
The opening ceremony culminated with remarks from the NU General\nChairman, the iftitah sermon by the Rais Aam, and an address by the\nPresident of the Republic of Indonesia, which officially opened the 35th\nNU Congress.<\/p>\n
The congress immediately continued with deliberation sessions on\nThursday evening. Plenary Session I was scheduled to discuss and ratify\nthe schedule and rules of procedure. Plenary Session II focused on the\naccountability report of the NU Executive Board, hearing general views\non the report, and delivering responses to those views.<\/p>\n
In the evening, congress participants were divided into six\ncommissions: Commission A on contemporary religious issues, Commission B\non thematic religious issues, Commission C on legal religious issues,\nCommission D on organisation, Commission E on programmes, and Commission\nF on recommendations.<\/p>\n
Deliberations continued on Saturday (29\/8). After participants\ncompleted commission sessions, the congress held Plenary Session III to\ndiscuss and ratify the results of the commission sessions. Plenary\nSession IV was then scheduled to discuss the ratification of the rules\nfor electing the Rais Aam and General Chairman, along with the\ntabulation of proposed members of the Ahlul Halli wal Aqdi.<\/p>\n
The most decisive phase of the congress was scheduled to take place\nthrough Plenary Session V on Saturday evening. This crucial session\nincluded strategic agenda items, from the demission of the 2021-2026 NU\nExecutive Board to the election of new leadership.<\/p>\n
The peak agenda included the election and appointment of Ahwa\nmembers, followed by a closed session of Ahwa members and the\nratification of the Rais Aam for the 2026-2031 term. That evening also\nsaw the election of the General Chairman for the 2026-2031 term and the\nappointment of the formateur team.<\/p>\n
The entire 35th NU Congress concluded on Sunday (30\/8) with a closing\nceremony scheduled from 08.30 to 10.15 WIB in the Plenary Hall of the\nGSG grounds.<\/p>\n
