        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister for Villages and Underdeveloped\nRegions (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, has invited the National Zakat\nCollection Agency (Baznas) to collaborate in realising the zakat village\nprogramme to improve community welfare at the village level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I want to foster that awareness: if you receive money from\nAllah SWT, you should pay your zakat mal. Don\u2019t just enjoy the results\nyourself. Actually, that can be used to build villages, enhance human\nresources, provide scholarships for education, and so on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He conveyed this during a meeting with Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid\nand his team at the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions\n(Kemendes PDT) office in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Yandri stated that Kemendes PDT and Baznas essentially share\nthe task of promoting rural communities\u2019 awareness of their obligation\nto pay zakat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the zakat literacy campaign must be simple, reasonable,\neasy to understand, and appealing to them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he explained that various government rural economic\nprogrammes currently being implemented, such as layer chicken farming,\ncatfish, tilapia, and broiler chicken farming, have potential to be\nintegrated with the zakat programme.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, village business actors, whether individuals or\ngroups, need to be encouraged to fulfil their zakat mal from the income\nthey earn.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Baznas Chairman Sodik reaffirmed his agency\u2019s commitment\nto strengthening collaboration with Kemendes PDT in optimising zakat\npotential in villages.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned four steps that will be taken: increasing zakat\ncollection, strengthening collaboration, expanding the formation of\nZakat Management Units (UPZ) to the village level, and safeguarding the\ntrust in zakat management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are four things we will do: increase the potential for zakat\ncollection, collaboration, UPZ must reach the villages, and safeguard\nthat zakat trust,\u201d said Sodik.<\/p>",
