The goal\nis to protect mobile network users, not complicate their lives,\u201d she\nsaid in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Meutya stressed that the technology and systems used for biometric\nverification must accommodate everyone, including persons with\ndisabilities.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, she commended several operators for putting\ninclusivity into practice, such as providing private booths for female\ncustomers who wear hijabs.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the aspect of inclusivity, she urged operators to maintain\nfull compliance with the mandate by ensuring no new user skips the\nbiometric-based registration process.<\/p>\n<p>The minister commended all operators for achieving full compliance\nwith the policy\u2019s implementation, underscoring the need for\non-the-ground monitoring to ensure compliance is maintained across\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>She also emphasized the importance of protecting the public\u2019s\nbiometric data, stressing that mobile network operators are not\npermitted to store customer biometric data, as the entire\nsynchronization process is handled through the Directorate General of\nPopulation and Civil Registration (Dukcapil).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease ensure that the public\u2019s biometric data is secure. Cellular\noperators do not and must not store biometric data.
