        "content": "<p>Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, has\nstated that pupils at Sekolah Rakyat (People\u2019s Schools) have shown\nsignificant development, becoming more confident, disciplined, and\ncourageous after undergoing the learning process since July last year.\n\u201cWe now know, we have seen firsthand how the children are more\nconfident, more enthusiastic about learning, fitter, more disciplined,\nand brave enough to perform on stage,\u201d Gus Ipul said in a statement on\nThursday (11\/6\/2026). He made the remarks following a Sekolah Rakyat\nOpen House event for parents and prospective pupils at Sekolah Rakyat\nMenengah Pertama (SRMP) 21 Manado, North Sulawesi, on Thursday. The open\nhouse was held to give prospective pupils, their parents, community\nleaders, and the local government the opportunity to see the pupils\u2019\nlearning progress directly. Gus Ipul arrived at the location at around\n09:20 WITA and was greeted by performances from SRMP 21 Manado pupils,\nincluding a marching display, a traditional Kabasaran dance from North\nSulawesi, a wushu attraction, speeches in English and Arabic, a choir\nperformance, and poetry. The attendees thoroughly enjoyed every\nperformance, with some visibly moved to tears. Gus Ipul noted that the\npupils\u2019 courage to perform on stage was a positive character trait.\n\u201cThose are positive characteristics, and it is hoped that with this\ndevelopment, they will be able to produce even more work to showcase in\nthe future,\u201d he said. Gus Ipul also took time to speak with pupils to\nhear firsthand about their experiences of the learning process at\nSekolah Rakyat. One SRMP 21 Manado pupil, Herlina Natalia Mamahit, said\nthat during her education at Sekolah Rakyat, she felt happy because of\nthe good facilities provided and admitted to being more confident. \u201cThe\nchange in me was that before I entered Sekolah Rakyat, I was still shy\nand could not make friends because I lacked confidence. After I entered\nSekolah Rakyat, I have become more confident,\u201d said Herlina. Her mother,\nNerlin Kasehung, also noted the same positive development in her child.\n\u201cFirstly, before, Natalia could not study smoothly, but now, praise God,\nshe has begun to study well, and she is doing better in other subjects,\u201d\nsaid Nerlin, hugging her child. The positive development of the pupils\nis inseparable from the role of the school principal, teachers, and\neducation staff who patiently and sincerely guide them. \u201cIt\u2019s different\nfrom 10 months ago; they are now more confident, more optimistic, and\nhave the hope and spirit to achieve their dreams,\u201d Gus Ipul said while\ngiving his briefing. On the occasion, Gus Ipul expressed his\nappreciation to the North Sulawesi Provincial Government, which had\nparticipated in the construction of a permanent Sekolah Rakyat building.\n\u201cFor North Sulawesi Province, I thank the Governor for providing the\nland so that we could build a permanent building in Minahasa; the land\nbelongs to the provincial government. We are currently coordinating with\nregencies\/cities on how they can also provide similar land so that more\nschools can be built,\u201d he explained. Meanwhile, Manado Mayor Andrei\nAngouw thanked President Prabowo Subianto for realising the Sekolah\nRakyat programme, particularly in North Sulawesi. \u201cThe President, the\nMinister, the government have created a very good programme.
