        "content": "<p>\u201cTerrorism in Indonesia is relatively under control today. This is\nreflected in the country\u2019s success in maintaining a declining trend in\nterrorist incidents over the past several years,\u201d Djamari said in\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the Global Terrorism Index 2026 classifies Indonesia as\na country with a medium impact from terrorism, while the Global Peace\nIndex 2026 places the country at a medium level of peacefulness.<\/p>\n<p>According to Djamari, these achievements demonstrate the\neffectiveness of Indonesia\u2019s prevention and law enforcement efforts,\nwhich have been driven by collaboration among the government, law\nenforcement agencies, local communities, academics, and international\npartners.<\/p>\n<p>He said the positive results have also been supported by the\ncontinued implementation of the National Action Plan for the Prevention\nand Countering of Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism (RAN PE).<\/p>\n<p>Djamari said the policy reflects the government\u2019s constitutional\nmandate to protect the nation and all Indonesian citizens.<\/p>\n<p>He therefore welcomed the National Counterterrorism Agency\u2019s (BNPT)\ninitiative to strengthen interagency cooperation in implementing\nPresidential Regulation No.\u00a08 of 2026 on the 2026\u20132029 National Action\nPlan for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism Leading to\nTerrorism.<\/p>\n<p>The minister also reaffirmed Indonesia\u2019s commitment to remaining an\nactive and constructive partner in addressing cross-border threats posed\nby violent extremism.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed hope that Indonesia\u2019s experience in preventing and\ncombating terrorism could contribute to global counterterrorism efforts\nas well as international peace and security.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the encouraging progress, Djamari warned against complacency,\nurging relevant ministries and government agencies to preserve the gains\nthat have been achieved and to remain alert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVigilance must continue to be one of our priorities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that arrests of suspected terrorists continue to occur in\nIndonesia and warned that extremist groups are constantly adopting new\nmethods to spread their ideology.<\/p>\n<p>According to Djamari, advances in technology and the internet have\ntransformed terrorism into a global threat, with digital platforms\nincreasingly being exploited to disseminate propaganda, recruit members,\nand raise funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to remain vigilant in how our society uses digital space,\ngiven the challenges we face today,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: BNPT rehabilitates 250 minors exposed to extremism<\/p>\n<p>Related news: BNPT calls for stronger community resilience against\nradicalism<\/p>\n<p>Translator: Fath, Azis Kurmala<\/p>",
