Jakarta - Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar\nexplained the essence of Eid al-Adha is not merely performing religious\nrituals, but a moment for sharing, so all societal layers can experience\nhappiness and equal nutritional provision.<\/p>\n
\u2018Idul Adha is essentially a month of sharing. We hope through this\nmomentum, everyone can access animal-based nutrition, whether through\nthe qurban ritual or social assistance schemes like those we implement,\nsuch as at Istiqlal Mosque,\u2019 Menag stated in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Menag said that not all animals entrusted at Istiqlal Mosque during\nEid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah are from Muslims. There are three categories:\nqurban animals, Dam (expiation), and social assistance.<\/p>\n
\u2018Many of our non-Muslim friends also donate sacrificial animals. In\nfact, nearly half of the total animals come from the general public who\nmay not intend them as Islamic qurban. We greatly appreciate this\ntolerance and social concern,\u2019 Menag said.<\/p>\n
He explained that under Islamic law, qurban is obligatory for capable\nMuslims. However, the participation of non-Muslims shows high social\nawareness to help others amid high demand for qurban meat.<\/p>\n
To accommodate various donation types, Istiqlal implements three\nmanagement schemes. First, conventional qurban management for obligatory\nor voluntary Islamic rituals.<\/p>\n
Second, Dam scheme to accommodate Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to\nchannel their fines or redemption payments in Indonesia, a move\nconsidered more impactful for local communities.<\/p>\n
Third, social assistance or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)\nroute to accept contributions from companies or non-Muslim individuals\nas social charity to strengthen meat supply.<\/p>\n
As of the holiday, Istiqlal Mosque received 63 cattle, 18 goats, and\none sheep.<\/p>\n
All animals will be slaughtered from 28 May 2026 and distributed\ntransparently to mosques, mushallas, orphanages, religious study groups,\nIslamic boarding schools, madrasahs, and Islamic universities under\nIstiqlal\u2019s supervision or partnership.<\/p>\n
\u2018Insha Allah, Istiqlal\u2019s accountability system is transparent. We\nwill report back to donors according to their donation type and\nintentions,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Regarding national leaders\u2019 sacrificial animals, Menag confirmed\nIstiqlal Mosque received official donations from the President and Vice\nPresident on the eve of Takbir.<\/p>\n
Menag hopes Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah allows citizens to enjoy equal\naccess to animal-based nutrition.<\/p>\n
