Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo,\nhas urged returnees not to undertake their return journeys\nsimultaneously to prevent congestion on toll roads and national\nhighways.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, the appeal is the same as that from the Head of the Indonesian\nNational Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) for the return journeys of\nreturnees not to be simultaneous, but staggered so that the roads are\nnot too crowded,\u201d Dody said when met at the Ministry of Public Works in\nJakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
According to him, the government has implemented a work-from-anywhere\n(WFA) policy that can be utilised by the public, allowing people to plan\ntheir travel as best as possible to avoid traffic congestion during the\nreturn flow.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been given the opportunity for work from anywhere, so it\nshould be possible to arrange that (travel plans),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dody also conveyed that this year\u2019s Eid homecoming flow was better\nthan last year, and he hopes the return flow will remain as smooth as\nthe outbound journey.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my view, it\u2019s better than last year. Hopefully it stays that way,\nbut we\u2019re still waiting for the return flow. Hopefully it remains as\nsmooth as the outbound flow yesterday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re trying to keep it that way, hopefully the weather also\nsupports it, and friends who went home for Eid are willing to follow the\ngovernment\u2019s appeal not to return to Jakarta all at once so that\nvehicles are not too dense on toll roads or non-toll roads,\u201d Dody\nadded.<\/p>\n
For information, the flow of vehicles and passengers returning to\nJakarta and several other major cities continues to increase as the Eid\nholiday period 2026 ends, with surges in mobility observed across\nvarious modes of transportation, from toll roads and arterial routes to\ntrains and flights.<\/p>\n
This movement indicates the start of the busy return flow phase as\nreturnees return to their routines after celebrating Eid al-Fitr with\nfamily in their hometowns.<\/p>\n
On land routes, the volume of vehicles returning to the Jabotabek\narea continues to show an increase. Data from PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol\n(JTT) shows that until Tuesday (24\/3) night, 85,453 vehicles had passed\nout of the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate towards Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Vice President Corporate Secretary and Legal of PT JTT, Ria Marlinda\nPaalo, said the surge in vehicle flow began to be visible from the\nevening, especially vehicles coming from Central Java.<\/p>\n
As one of the main nodes for the return flow from Trans Java to\nJakarta, the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate becomes a crucial point in\nmanaging vehicle distribution during the return flow period.<\/p>\n
To maintain smooth traffic flow, toll operators are implementing\nvarious adjustments, from adding transaction lanes to applying traffic\nengineering such as the national one-way system and contraflow at\nseveral strategic points.<\/p>\n
