Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo announced the construction of\na steel water treatment plant for the Karang Baru Water Supply System\n(SPAM) in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, to ensure continuous water supply\nfor the community.<\/p>\n
According to him, the most critical aspect is ensuring the\nsustainability of the raw water source or intake to maintain optimal\nsystem functionality, even when river flow decreases during the dry\nseason.<\/p>\n
\u201cConstruction of the steel water treatment plant is currently\nunderway. However, we must ensure the source or intake is properly\nmaintained. While the river is currently at high levels, it is essential\nto verify during the dry season whether the flow remains sufficient,\u201d\nDody stated in a Jakarta press release on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The steel water treatment plant construction is part of a\npost-disaster SPAM handling package in Aceh Utara, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh\nTengah, and Gayo Lues districts, with a contract value of Rp277.97\nbillion.<\/p>\n
The work is carried out by the Aceh Building, Infrastructure and\nRegional Development Bureau, Directorate General of Construction,\nMinistry of Public Works, with contractor PT Adhi Karya (Persero)\nTbk.<\/p>\n
The scope of the Karang Baru SPAM construction in Aceh Tamiang\nRegency includes building the steel water treatment plant, intake\nstructures, compact support buildings, area infrastructure, and\nsupporting systems such as distribution piping networks.<\/p>\n
In the development site plan, the SPAM area will also feature\nsupporting facilities such as communal spaces, parking areas, and\nintegration with existing facilities including concrete and steel water\ntreatment plants and concrete reservoirs.<\/p>\n
Dody assessed that current progress remains on track with targets,\nthough some technical refinements require follow-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cProgress is good and in line with the initial schedule. We just need\nto confirm some technical aspects, including the upcoming construction\nof water gates. The challenge now is determining the lowest points given\nthe river morphology has significantly changed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Karang Baru SPAM construction is expected to strengthen drinking\nwater service resilience in Aceh Tamiang post-disaster, including\nmaintaining continuous water supply for public facilities and the\ncommunity.<\/p>\n
