        "content": "<p>Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas\n(PKP), Maruarar Sirait, directly inspected the sites of potential\nrecipients of Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) in Surabaya,\nEast Java, as part of accelerating the house rehabilitation programme\nfor low-income communities.<\/p>\n<p>The BSPS programme in East Java for 2026 records a significant\nincrease, with a total of 33,000 family heads (KK) as recipients, a\ndrastic rise compared to the previous year which was only around 3,000\nunits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe increase is very large; last year 3,000, now in East Java it\nreaches 33,000 houses,\u201d said Maruarar during the inspection in Surabaya\non Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>In the programme, each recipient receives assistance of Rp20 million\nper housing unit. The breakdown is Rp17.5 million allocated for\npurchasing building materials, while Rp2.5 million is used for workers\u2019\nwages.<\/p>\n<p>Assuming each house construction involves three workers, BSPS has the\npotential to absorb up to 99,000 workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf 33,000 houses are worked on by three people, that means almost\n99,000 workers are involved. This has a big impact on the economy,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to inspecting BSPS, the PKP Minister also socialised\neconomic empowerment programmes such as People\u2019s Business Credit (KUR)\nand PNM Mekar, which target ultra-micro business actors, especially\nwomen.<\/p>",
