        "content": "<p>Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian conducted a direct\ninspection of readiness for the 2026 Lebaran exodus at Merak Harbour in\nCilegon City, Banten, on Friday, 13 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The inspection was carried out alongside Coordinating Minister for\nHuman Development and Culture Pratikno, Transport Minister Dudy\nPurwagandhi, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister for Women\u2019s\nEmpowerment and Child Protection Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, Chief of the\nNational Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Commander of the Indonesian\nNational Armed Forces Agus Subiyanto, and other relevant officials.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, Tito and his delegation inspected service\nfacilities at the harbour, including passenger areas aboard the ferry\nthat will depart for Bakauheni Harbour. He also spoke with several\nprospective travellers to enquire about their travel destinations.<\/p>\n<p>Merak Harbour is one of the main mobility points for people\ntravelling from Java to Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>Following the field inspection, Tito and the ministers and relevant\nofficials participated in a Coordination Meeting on Preparations for the\n2026 Lebaran Exodus held at the Executive Dock of ASDP Merak Harbour,\nBanten.<\/p>\n<p>At the occasion, Coordinating Minister Pratikno stated that the\ngovernment aimed for this exodus to proceed safely, smoothly,\ncomfortably, and securely. He explained that the exodus is estimated to\nbegin around 18 March 2026, whilst the return journey is predicted to\ntake place on 29 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the government hopes that the movement of travellers\ncan be distributed across several days so as not to accumulate at any\nparticular time. This is particularly important given the relatively\nlong timeframe for the exodus this year due to the weekend, flexible\nworking arrangement policies for civil servants (ASN), joint leave, and\nproximity to Nyepi Day and Eid al-Fitr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, with this extended timeframe, we hope the exodus will be\ndistributed and not concentrated on particular days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, public satisfaction with the management of the exodus was\nrated as very high, and is expected to increase in 2026. Pratikno also\nemphasised the importance of preparedness in anticipating various\npotential obstacles, including weather factors.<\/p>\n<p>All parties have therefore been asked to continue collaborating and\nproviding the best service to the public. \u201cThis is our collective\nresponsibility to ensure that the exodus and return journey proceed\nsafely, comfortably, smoothly, and securely,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
