        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 Indonesia\u2019s Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono has\nrequested that the development of a backbone fibre optic network along\nthe Java railway ring be directly linked with the operationalisation of\nVillage and Urban Cooperatives (Kopdes\/Kelurahan) Merah Putih.<\/p>\n<p>This statement was made during a field visit to the backbone fibre\noptic project along the Java railway ring, which was initiated by\nIndosat Employee Cooperative (Kopindosat) at Gubeng Station in Surabaya\non Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Cooperatives commended the implementation of the\nbackbone fibre optic project, which is currently at the project closing\nstage.<\/p>\n<p>Ferry emphasised that one of the classic obstacles faced by villages\nand urban centres in remote areas is limited internet and electricity\nnetworks. He added that once the fibre optic network begins operating\ncommercially, this service is expected to provide affordable, fast, and\naccessible internet to residents\u2019 homes.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the Ministry of Cooperatives, through the Cooperative\nRevolving Fund Management Agency (LPDB), is ready to provide additional\nsupport in the form of competitive financing, including the possibility\nof assisting with installation to residents\u2019 homes so that the service\ngenuinely reaches all levels of society.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond infrastructure, Ferry emphasised the importance of improving\nthe capacity of management staff at Kopdes\/Urban Cooperatives Merah\nPutih. According to him, limited human resources capacity is a genuine\nchallenge that needs to be addressed immediately through training and\ndigitalisation support.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kopindosat Chief Executive Officer Wahono explained that\nthe backbone fibre optic network is being developed along the entire\nrailway line, spanning approximately 4,600 kilometres, stretching from\nCikampek to Banyuwangi with several branches.<\/p>\n<p>The project received financing support from the Cooperative Revolving\nFund Management Agency of approximately Rp47\u201348 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project is expected to be a solution for accelerating the\nequitable distribution of internet networks across various regions,\nparticularly in remote villages and urban centres,\u201d said Wahono.<\/p>",
