Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, reported that Bali's average internet download speed reached 105 Mbps during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr long holiday, surpassing the national average of 95 Mbps, thanks to the efforts of mobile operators. While overall connectivity remained stable, minor disruptions occurred in areas like Gilimanuk Port and during cultural events before Nyepi, which were swiftly addressed through coordination. The monitoring, part of the 500 nationwide Posko Bersama Rafi 2026 posts, also ensured flight frequency safety at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, highlighting the government's commitment to seamless travel and digital infrastructure during peak periods.

Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid
stated that the internet network speed in Bali Province is above the
national average during the establishment of the Joint Post for Ramadan
and Eid al-Fitr (Rafi) 2026 or the long holiday period. “Nationally, the
frequency is quite good with an average download speed of 95 Mbps and
upload speed of 42 Mbps, meaning it is well maintained, but specifically
in Bali, the average is around 105 Mbps, so it is above the national
average,” she said. Speaking in Badung Regency on Tuesday, Meutya
conveyed that this data was obtained from observations during the Joint
Post Rafi 2026 from 13 March to 24 March. Upon closer examination, at
Ngurah Rai International Airport alone, the internet network speed
reached 250 Mbps, so Meutya expressed thanks for the hard work of all
mobile operators in maintaining connectivity during the long holiday
momentum and Eid traffic flow. Looking at the service performance for
the whole of Bali, the Ministry of Communication and Digital found that
the operator with the highest speed test success rate is Indosat with a
success ratio of 98.25 percent, followed by Telkomsel at 89.3 percent,
and XLSmart at 58.99 percent. However, not all areas of Bali have been
covered by the testing equipment yet, so it will continue to be pursued
until the closure of the Joint Post Rafi 2026 on 29 March. “So, God
willing, this will operate until the 29th; we will close on 29 March to
ensure smooth and safe homecoming for travellers and holidays for
everyone,” Meutya said. Although the internet network speed in Bali has
been above average over the last 12 days, the Ministry of Communication
and Digital does not rule out the fact that on certain days, there was a
decline in network performance. For example, from 14-17 March, a decline
occurred in the Gilimanuk Port area, but the Ministry’s Digital
Infrastructure Data and Information Service Team immediately coordinated
with mobile operators and it was promptly handled. Additionally, there
was a note on 18 March during Hari Pengerupukan or the day before Nyepi
Day, when Balinese community activities increased, leading to a decline
in performance. “There is a slight note, like on the 18th there was a
cultural activity one day before Nyepi, and for the first time in
history perhaps, Nyepi is close to Eid, really only differing by one or
two days, so on the 18th there were disruptions at several points,” said
the Minister. The 500 Joint Posts Rafi 2026 across Indonesia are not
only used to monitor the internet network; at Ngurah Rai International
Airport, Minister Meutya also checked flight frequencies. This was done
to ensure that the communication network is maintained and does not
affect flight safety during the dense traffic of the long holiday. “It
was reported that frequency interference is not much, only disruptions
under 30 seconds, meaning it does not endanger flights, so flights are
safe, but we entrust that it be continuously maintained at least until
the 29th,” said the Minister.
",
