        "content": "<p>Manokwari - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu\u2019ti\nsaid the presence of SMA Muhammadiyah Conservation (SMAMCo) Manokwari,\nWest Papua, is expected to produce human resources that are academically\nintelligent and ecologically conscious to preserve the environment.<\/p>\n<p>SMAMCo Manokwari is the first Muhammadiyah business unit in Indonesia\nthat not only focuses on improving scientific and technological\nknowledge but also instils environmental care as part of social\nlife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndonesian children must have ecological intelligence amid climate\nchange and global warming challenges,\u201d he said during the inauguration\nof the new school unit in Manokwari on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the construction of SMAMCo Manokwari demonstrates\nthe commitment of the West Papua Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership to\nintegrate theological vision with national education curriculum,\ncustoms, culture, local wisdom, and natural resources in the Cassowary\nLand.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry will encourage the implementation of educational\ninstitutions like SMAMCo Manokwari by regional governments and\nMuhammadiyah in other areas, especially eastern Indonesia which receives\nspecial attention from the central government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe immediately approved the proposal for the new SMAMCo unit due to\nits uniqueness and strengths aligned with local natural wealth and\nculture,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that global warming and climate change not only negatively\nimpact environmental sustainability and social life but also affect\nglobal political dynamics, food security, and international\nrelations.<\/p>\n<p>These issues were the main topics in a meeting between scientists and\nreligious leaders from various countries initiated by the Vatican years\nago to discuss strategic steps to address climate change and global\nwarming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchools also bear the responsibility of educating students to become\nintelligent and nature-loving individuals,\u201d Abdul said.<\/p>\n<p>West Papua Provincial Secretary Ali Baham Temongmere praised\nMuhammadiyah\u2019s commitment and dedication as one of the largest Islamic\norganisations collaborating with the regional government to develop\nquality education.<\/p>\n<p>The existence of SMAMCo Manokwari aligns with the provincial\ngovernment\u2019s sustainability-focused development programmes across seven\nregencies in West Papua to ensure natural resource preservation for the\nfuture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMay SMAMCo Manokwari not only excel academically but also produce\nfuture generations with strong character and environmental love,\u201d Ali\nBaham said.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammadiyah West Papua Regional Chairman Mulyadi Djaya explained\nthat SMAMCo Manokwari\u2019s initial operations were conducted in a former\nuniversity clinic room with 63 students, including non-Muslims and\nindigenous Papuans.<\/p>\n<p>SMAMCo Manokwari then received government assistance to build 13 new\nstructures after the proposal was approved by the Ministry of Basic and\nSecondary Education, with all classroom facilities and infrastructure\ncompleted within three months instead of the six-month target.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you to President Prabowo and the Minister of Basic and\nSecondary Education for supporting SMAMCo\u2019s facility development,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>",
