        "content": "<p>Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu\u2019ti\nhas proposed that material on artificial intelligence (AI) and coding\nwill become compulsory subjects taught from primary school (SD) to upper\nsecondary school (SMA). Abdul Mu\u2019ti said that they are currently in the\nprocess of preparing the infrastructure and teacher readiness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the teachers are ready and we have provided the necessary\ninfrastructure, AI and coding will become compulsory subjects at all\nlevels of education,\u201d said Mu\u2019ti in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara\n(NTB), Sunday (17\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Abdul Mu\u2019ti said that currently, some schools already offer AI and\ncoding as optional subjects. According to him, these subjects are only\nbeing implemented by schools that are ready in terms of infrastructure\nand teaching staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also trained teachers to strengthen education and digital\nskills through AI and coding training. Currently, AI and coding have\nbecome optional subjects in schools that are ready,\u201d explained\nMu\u2019ti.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, Mu\u2019ti said that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary\nEducation has also launched a program to improve character education for\nstudents. One of them is by training seven habits for Indonesian\nchildren, namely the habit of waking up early, praying, exercising,\neating healthy food, being eager to learn, being social, and going to\nbed early.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also issued a \u2018Happy Morning\u2019 policy which contains three\nactivities, namely singing the Indonesia Raya song in order to foster\nnationalism, then doing Senam Anak Indonesia Hebat (Great Indonesian\nChildren\u2019s Gymnastics), and praying together before teaching and\nlearning activities are carried out,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mu\u2019ti, efforts to build students\u2019 character are also\ncarried out through deep learning. He said that teachers have been given\ntraining so that the program is successful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also strengthening these programs with a deep learning policy\nwhere we started training teachers to implement deep learning, which\nalso strengthens character education by strengthening nationalism,\u201d said\nMu\u2019ti.<\/p>",
