        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian\nMigrant Workers (P2MI) has affirmed that the biggest challenge currently\nfaced is ensuring Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) possess competencies\nthat match the needs and standards of destination countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe challenge now is not only opening new job markets, but also\nensuring Indonesian workers have competencies that match the needs and\nstandards of destination countries,\u201d said P2MI Minister Mukhtarudin to\nANTARA after the 2026 MPR\/DPR annual session in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mukhtarudin, current labour demand is found in\nmanufacturing, construction, agriculture, hospitality and tourism, care\nand health, transportation, as well as the maritime and shipbuilding\nsectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing forward, we will also continue to promote opportunities in\nprofessional and skilled jobs that have higher added value,\u201d said\nMukhtarudin.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that verified job vacancy data in SISKOP2MI serves as an\nimportant basis for preparing Indonesian human resources; vocational\neducation, training, certification, language skills, and non-technical\nskills must be directed according to the needs of the overseas labour\nmarket.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur strategy is not just opening as many vacancies abroad as\npossible, but ensuring those vacancies can be filled by Indonesian\nworkers who are competent, work-ready, and have global competitiveness,\u201d\nsaid Mukhtarudin.<\/p>\n<p>Based on job vacancy data in SISKOP2MI that has been verified by\nKP2MI, there are currently 294,221 overseas job opportunities. Of that\nnumber, 76,342 positions already have applicants, or around 25\npercent.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Mukhtarudin mentioned that the Indonesian government\ncontinues to expand and develop job market access through cooperation\nwith various countries.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, there are currently 28 cooperation agreements still\nin force and 19 others under discussion.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the expansion of access is directed towards Japan,\nSouth Korea, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, T\u00fcrkiye, as well\nas European countries and other regions that have labour needs and\nplacement opportunities matching the competencies of Indonesian Migrant\nWorkers.<\/p>",
