Indonesian Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman, has urged the Chinese government to broaden market access for Indonesian MSME products and strengthen their integration into China's supply chains. During a recent forum in China, he highlighted the significant export potential of key commodities such as durian, mangosteen, dragon fruit, and swiftlet nests, where Indonesia already supplies about 70% of China's demand for the latter but needs improved access for smaller enterprises. This push aims to optimise opportunities for domestic farmers and MSME entrepreneurs, enhancing economic benefits from these strategic exports.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises
(MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman has requested that the Chinese government open
broader market access for Indonesian MSME products while strengthening
the integration of Indonesian MSMEs into China’s supply chains. “We
discussed the market potential in China that can be opened as widely as
possible to our micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs,” Maman said when
met at the Ministry of MSMEs office in Jakarta on Monday. The MSME
Minister previously undertook a working visit to China last week to
attend the “Indonesia–China SME, Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum
2026” on Wednesday (1/4), which brought together business actors from
China and policymakers from Indonesia related to business and MSMEs.
According to Maman, several of Indonesia’s flagship commodities have
great opportunities in the Chinese market, ranging from durian,
mangosteen, dragon fruit, to swiftlet nests. He assessed that
Indonesia’s position in that market is still very small, so the
government is encouraging domestic durian farmers to more optimally
utilise export opportunities. In addition to durian, Maman also
highlighted the importance of expanding market access for MSME actors
engaged in swiftlet nest commodities. He explained that Indonesia
currently meets around 70 percent of China’s market needs, but access
for MSMEs is still limited, so it needs to be expanded so that the
benefits of these strategic commodities can be felt more evenly,
especially by small and medium entrepreneurs domestically. “We discussed
how to open even greater access for our swiftlet nests, especially for
small and medium entrepreneurs,” he stated.
",
