Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora\nRI) Erick Thohir presented the strategic policy direction, budget\nperformance, and national sports achievement targets in a working\nmeeting with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives\n(DPR RI) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday\n(31\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
In his presentation, Minister Erick stated that his ministry is\naligning its work programme with the Asta Cita and national priorities\nthrough three main pillars: Youth Development, Sports Culture Promotion,\nand Sports Achievement Enhancement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to improve the quality of youth, promote inclusive sports\nculture, strengthen the sports industry in line with the National Sports\nGrand Design, and develop tiered and sustainable sports coaching,\u201d said\nMinister Erick.<\/p>\n
In the achievement sector, Minister Erick revealed the target for the\nIndonesian team to bring home at least four gold medals at the 2026\nAsian Games. This target is supported by the national training programme\nand the readiness of leading sports disciplines.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ministry of Youth and Sports is also following up on the\nPresident\u2019s directives regarding the national sports academy, athlete\nscholarships, and the Cibubur sports science centre. There is also\nstrengthening of the long-term sustainable development system for 20\nleading Olympic sports and one world-stage sport, as well as the\nimplementation of national talent management,\u201d said Minister Erick.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Minister Erick outlined youth programmes leading up to\nthe centenary of Youth Pledge Day in 2028. The ministry is intensifying\na series of flagship youth programmes, such as the Wirasena Youth Camp,\nYouth Summit, Wirasena Youth Career Hub, and the International Youth\nExchange Programme (PPAN).<\/p>\n
Regarding financial matters, Minister Erick reported on the Joint\nLetter on Budget Ceiling (SBPA) concerning the 2027 expenditure budget\nand special allocation funds. The ministry\u2019s budget ceiling is set at Rp\n4.019 trillion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe most important thing is how we maintain trust in the use of\nfunds, so that the public can feel the benefits of the programmes. We\nshould be transparent and accountable,\u201d explained Minister Erick.<\/p>\n
Deputy Chair of Commission X of the DPR, Kurniasih Mufidayati, who\nled the working meeting, stated that the commission agreed with the\nbudget. The results of this meeting will subsequently be discussed\nthrough the budget deliberation mechanism.<\/p>\n
