Minister denies travel advice<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE (AFP): Singapore is not discouraging its citizens
\nfrom visiting Malaysia but some may feel unwelcome there after a
\nrecent diplomatic row, a senior cabinet member said in remarks
\npublished yesterday.<\/p>\n
\"We do not tell them where to go and where not to go,\" the
\nStraits Times quoted Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng as
\nsaying amid reports that some Singaporean tour groups will skip
\nMalaysia during next month's school break in favor of Thailand
\nand Indonesia.<\/p>\n
But Wong said Singaporeans \"also have emotions and
\nsensitivities\" and \"when they feel that others are hurling abuse
\nat their leaders, I think they will not feel comfortable going to
\na place where they do not feel welcome.\"<\/p>\n
A diplomatic row broke out in March after disparaging remarks
\nby Singapore Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew about Johore were
\nplayed up in the Malaysian press, forcing Lee to apologize
\npublicly and withdraw the comments.<\/p>",
