The Cooperatives Minister, Ferry Juliantono, has affirmed the central\ngovernment\u2019s commitment to developing the Flower and Fruit Festival\norganised by the Karo Regency Government in North Sumatra into an event\nof international standing.<\/p>\n
The minister conveyed this support while opening the Karo Flower and\nFruit Festival 2026 at Taman Mejuah-juah in Berastagi, Karo Regency, on\nThursday.<\/p>\n
According to Ferry, the Karo Flower and Fruit Festival has strong\nappeal because it combines agricultural potential, culture, tourism and\nthe local economy.<\/p>\n
The festival has also been included among the Tourism Ministry\u2019s 125\nKarisma Event Nusantara (KEN), making it worthy of continued development\nuntil it can attract foreign tourists.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will fully support next year\u2019s edition so that its scale\nincreases into an international event,\u201d Ferry asserted.<\/p>\n
He said he was impressed by the enthusiasm of the crowds filling the\nfestival venue. In his view, this community spirit is an important asset\nfor Karo Regency to continue developing its tourism sector and an\neconomy based on local potential.<\/p>\n
On that occasion, Ferry also received the bestowal of the Karo\nGinting clan name as a form of honour from the Karo customary\ncommunity.<\/p>\n
Karo Regent Antonius Ginting stressed that the Flower and Fruit\nFestival is not merely entertainment, but also a moment to introduce\nKaro Regency to the world as a region rich in agricultural produce,\nculture and tourist destinations.<\/p>\n
He said the regional government continues to build collaboration with\nthe central government, the North Sumatra Provincial Government,\nbusiness players and various parties to expand promotion of the region\nwhilst opening up investment opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is important for Karo Regency to take further steps onto the\ninternational stage through collaboration in tourism promotion, modern\nagricultural investment, cultural exchange and the development of the\ncreative economy,\u201d said Antonius.<\/p>\n
According to him, this synergy is expected to increase tourist\nvisits, expand the market for Karo\u2019s horticultural products and deliver\na tangible impact on community welfare.<\/p>\n
The Karo Flower and Fruit Festival 2026 carries the theme \u201cThe\nEternal of Karo Paradise\u201d and features a range of activities, from a\nflower and fruit-decorated float carnival, exhibitions of flagship\nproducts and MSMEs, business matching, cultural art performances and\ntraditional dance competitions, through to the tradition of free fruit\nand processed fruit for the community.<\/p>\n
North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya, who also attended the festival\nopening, affirmed that the provincial government will continue to\nsupport the development of the Karo Flower and Fruit Festival so that it\nbecomes increasingly high quality and can serve as an\ninternational-level tourism icon for North Sumatra.<\/p>\n
