        "content": "<p>Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto\nis encouraging universities and scientists to support the acceleration\nof various national priority programmes through strategic\ncross-ministerial research collaboration. Speaking at the National\nConvention of Science, Technology, and Industry in Jakarta on Friday,\nMinister Brian stressed that science and technology must no longer\nremain an ivory tower confined to academic spaces, but must transform\ninto a primary force driving national development. He stated that this\nnoble ambition can only be achieved by making universities a strategic\npartner of the government to solve real problems on the ground, in order\nto realise economic independence and the welfare of the Indonesian\npeople. \u201cThe main goal is to strengthen collaboration between the\ngovernment, universities, the business sector, industry, and the\ncommunity so that science truly becomes a force in national\ndevelopment,\u201d said Minister Brian. The Minister revealed that in the\nenergy independence and infrastructure sector, for instance, university\nresearchers are currently working on research into palm oil-based\npetrol, the development of electric cookers, and a study on the\nimplementation of a 100 Gigawatt power plant together with the Ministry\nof Energy and Mineral Resources. In addition, campuses are also involved\nin the study of the Giant Sea Wall project on the North Coast of Java.\nMeanwhile, in the health and food security sectors, scientists are\ndirectly involved in research on the development of a tuberculosis\nvaccine, strengthening the pharmaceutical industry, and agricultural\ngenome research to produce superior varieties that can replace imported\nproducts. This academic intervention collaboration is also being\nexpanded to other strategic sectors, ranging from integrated waste\nprocessing technology development, research on electric fishing vessels,\nintegrated vertical housing design, to the development of the national\nsemiconductor industry coordinated with the Danantara investment\nmanagement agency. The National Convention runs for three days under the\ntheme \u201cStrategy for Indonesia\u2019s Economic Independence and Welfare\u201d. The\nseries of activities includes symposiums and panel discussions on\nagriculture, energy, economy and finance, food security, marine and\nfisheries, downstreaming, and industry. The event was attended by\napproximately 2,600 rectors, lecturers, researchers, scientists, and\nuniversity representatives along with the National Research and\nInnovation Agency. Notable figures attending the event included\nPresident Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.\nThey were accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs\nAirlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and\nCulture Pratikno, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology\nBrian Yuliarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil\nLahadalia, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet\nSecretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.<\/p>",
