        "content": "<p>Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has\nstressed that the power supply disruptions or blackouts occurring in\nseveral regions were not caused by a coal shortage. The government has\nconfirmed that the commodity supply for domestic needs remains secure\nand on target. Bahlil explained that the issue of limited coal stock as\na trigger for the blackouts is inconsistent with facts on the ground.\nAccording to him, the domestic market obligation (DMO) for coal has\nreached a significant figure. \u201cIf it is said that there is a coal\nscarcity problem, that is not true. Our assignment has already reached\n170 million tonnes,\u201d Bahlil said during a press briefing at the\nPresidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (11\/6). He revealed that the\nmain cause of the power disruption was technical problems with several\ngenerating units. Currently, the Ministry of ESDM, together with\nstate-owned PT PLN (Persero), continues to conduct in-depth evaluations\nand accelerate handling to restabilise the national electricity system.\n\u201cIndeed, there are some troubles in several engines that PLN will\nresolve, and we will complete as soon as possible,\u201d he added. As of\nThursday evening, Bahlil admitted he was still conducting intensive\ncoordination with PLN to find a permanent solution to this problem. He\ndid not deny that the previous recovery process had not been optimal,\nbut corrective measures are being accelerated so that the public is no\nlonger affected by blackouts. \u201cYesterday it was indeed not optimal, but\nwe are accelerating the recovery. We are striving so that there are no\nmore blackouts soon,\u201d Bahlil stressed. The government is also committed\nto preventing recurring blackouts or the implementation of rolling\nblackouts by ensuring all power plant infrastructure returns to optimal\noperation in the near term.<\/p>",
