The association was playing a significant role in keeping competition in the construction business healthy and professional, he added.

Conflicts and unhealty competition often occurred since construction service providers mostly focused on government-funded construction projects which account for an average of 45 percent of the overall construction market.

The public works ministry is currently developing an information system on job orders available in the construction sector, including private-funded works. The public would have free access to the information provided by the system.

An Indonesia Infrastructure Conference & Exhibition (IICE) 2006 is currently going on at the JHCC, Jakarta.

The IICE is being participated in by domestic and foreign investors. In the IICE 2006, the government is offering 10 model projects worth US$4.4 billion and was reported to be preparing some 101 potential projects worth US$ 14.7 billion.(*)
",
