Military top brass reveal their wealth<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): In its latest report published on Wednesday, the
\nPublic Servants' Wealth Audit Commission (KPKPN) disclosed the
\nriches of two military top brass, a caretaker Cabinet member and
\na politician from former president Abdurrahman Wahid's party.<\/p>\n
According to the report, Army's Strategic Reserves Command
\n(Kostrad) Commander Lt. Gen. Ryamizard has one house worth Rp 626
\nmillion, four cars and one Harley Davidson motorbike.<\/p>\n
Ryamizard, the son-in-law of former armed forces chief and
\nvice president Gen. (ret.) Try Sutrisno, bought a VW Caravelle
\nthis year and a Toyota Land Cruiser last year. He also owns 10
\njackets which he bought in 1995.<\/p>\n
The value of his total assets is about Rp 3.5 billion. He does
\nnot have any debt.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Navy Chief of Staff Adm. Indroko Sastrowiryono owns
\nfive plots of land and properties which are valued at Rp 1.3
\nbillion. The most expensive building, which he inherited last
\nyear is worth Rp 700 million.<\/p>\n
Last year he also bought two cars, an Escudo and Honda City
\nwhich are worth Rp 120 million and Rp 90 million respectively.<\/p>\n
Indroko's total wealth is worth Rp 2.7 billion, including
\nantiques, art works and precious metal.<\/p>\n
Caretaker minister of religious affairs Tholchah Hasan
\nmeanwhile reported his wealth as totaling Rp 3.5 billion and a
\nbank deposit of US$ 6,210.<\/p>\n
He posses four properties in Malang, East Java, and another
\none in Bogor, West Java.<\/p>\n
He bought a KIA Carnival worth Rp 209 million last year. The
\nminister also owns four farms worth Rp 668 million.<\/p>\n
Former maritime and fisheries minister Sarwono Kusumaatmadja
\nreported that he owns six properties, including one building in
\nSurabaya, valued at Rp 3.6 billion.<\/p>\n
Sarwono who lost his position shortly before Abdurrahman's
\nfall last month, also owns three promissory notes worth Rp 35
\nmillion which he bought from 1991 to 1993. He also reported a
\nbank deposit in foreign currency totaling US$67,600.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, member of the House of Representatives (DPR) from
\nthe National Awakening Party (PKB), Taufikurrachman Saleh in his
\nreport disclosed his riches as worth nearly Rp 1.7 billion and $
\n4,300.<\/p>\n
People's Consultative Assembly deputy speaker Soetjipto from
\nthe Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle declared his wealth
\nas worth Rp 4.4 billion. (prb)<\/p>",
