Military seizes bomb-making material<\/p>\n
PALU, Central Sulawesi: The military said on Sunday it found
\n2.75 tons of bomb-making material during a two-day security
\noperation in Banggai regency, Central Sulawesi.<\/p>\n
\"We have sent all of the evidence to the Banggai Police for
\nfurther investigation,\" local military district commander Lt.
\nCol. Bambang Riyadi said.<\/p>\n
He said 110 sacks of ammonium nitrate, each weighing 25
\nkilograms, were seized during the operation. Ammonium nitrate is
\nfrequently used to make bombs.<\/p>\n
The sacks of ammonium nitrate, bearing the brand name
\n\"Matahari\", are thought to have been purchased from a black
\nmarket in East Malaysia, Bambang said.<\/p>\n
He said the material was seized on Friday, after soldiers
\nbecame suspicious of a vehicle and discovered five sacks of
\nammonium nitrate inside.<\/p>\n
This led troops to a house in the Tanjung neighborhood of
\nLuwuk, the capital of Banggai, where they found an additional 90
\nsacks of the material.<\/p>\n
The owner of the house, identified only as Marni, was able to
\nescape arrest, Bambang said. --Antara<\/p>",
