Military investigate Ibrahim Saleh<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The military has taken over from the police in
\nquestioning Brig. Gen. (ret.) Ibrahim Saleh for entering the
\nPeople's Consultative Assembly building without proper ID while a
\nsession was taking place.<\/p>\n
Lt. Col. DJ. Nachrowi, spokesman for the Jakarta Military,
\nhowever refused to state whether Ibrahim was questioned as a
\nsuspect or a witness. "We consider him a senior member of the
\nArmed Forces family," Nachrowi said.<\/p>\n
Ibrahim is currently being held at Jakarta Police Military
\nheadquarters for further questioning.<\/p>\n
He was detained Friday after entering the MPR premises with a
\nDutch TV crew, some of whom did not have valid passes either.<\/p>\n
Ibrahim, made famous by his "interruption" of the 1988 MPR
\nsession, also visited the MPR compound Monday last week,
\napparently using a 1993 observer pass.<\/p>\n
He disseminated leaflets explaining MPR members' right to
\ninterrupt a proceeding and also gave endorsement to the
\nnomination of Soeharto and B.J. Habibie as president and vice
\npresident.<\/p>\n
Saleh, who retired from the military in 1994, had served as an
