Microsoft, partners open info centers<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Software company Microsoft Indonesia and its
\npartners will open information technology centers in Jakarta to
\npromote its business applications for the finance industry,
\nmanufacturing, mining industry and Intranet\/Internet users.<\/p>\n
Microsoft Indonesia president director Andy BT Khoo said
\nyesterday the Microsoft Competency Centers (MiCC) would give
\nbusinesspeople an opportunity to keep up to date with the latest
\ndevelopments in information technology, especially regarding
\nMicrosoft products, and select the most suitable applications for
\ntheir companies.<\/p>\n
\"With the centers, Microsoft aims to develop an information
\ntechnology community in Indonesia and transfer technology to our
\npartners in Indonesia,\" Andy said.<\/p>\n
He said there would be three centers providing information
\nabout new applications related to manufacturing and mining,
\nfinance and Intranet\/Internet.<\/p>\n
The manufacture and mining center will be operated by PT
\nCommercial Software Services Indonesia on the ninth floor of
\nWisma Dharmala Sakti; the financial center by PT Sigma Cipta
\nCaraka on the 14th floor of the Jakarta Stock Exchange Building
\nand the Intranet\/Internet center by PT Integrasindo Infotama on
\nthe 16th Floor of the GKBI building.<\/p>\n
Andy said the centers were scheduled to open between September
\nand November this year.<\/p>\n
Each center will be equipped with facilities to hold a seminar
\nfor up to 40 people each month, product demonstrations and
\nMicrosoft information centers.<\/p>\n
\"Microsoft will spend US$100,000 a year to finance each
\ncenter,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Andy said the centers were expected to increase the sales of
\nMicrosoft products 100 percent to 40,000 software licenses this
\nyear from 20,000 software licenses last year.<\/p>\n
Microsoft recorded about US$100 million of sales in Asia last
\nyear, of which sales in Indonesia did not contribute
\nsignificantly. The company opened its office in Jakarta last
