Micronesia offers bilateral cooperation<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Micronesian President Bailey Olter offered
\ncooperation with Indonesian parties in forestry, fishery and
\nagriculture during his meeting with President Soeharto here
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Minister\/State Secretary Moerdiono said after the meeting at
\nthe Merdeka Palace that the visiting Micronesian president also
\ninvited Indonesian businesses to invest in his country.<\/p>\n
\"President Olter offered our businessmen, in particular to set
\nup joint ventures in the fish canning industry,\" Moerdiono told
\njournalist about subjects raised during the talks between the two
\nheads of states.<\/p>\n
The Micronesian president and his delegation, including his
\nwife Amalia Olter, arrived on Thursday for a six-day visit.<\/p>\n
In the state banquet held for the visiting president at the
\nState Palace last night, Soeharto called for the promotion of
\ncooperation among the Asia-Pacific countries, both under
\nbilateral and multilateral bases.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian leader said the promotion of cooperation
\nbetween developing countries, in addition to the expansion of the
\ncooperation between developing and industrial nations, is
\nessential in paving the way for more prosperous and peaceful
\nworld.<\/p>\n
Today, the Micronesian leader and his delegates are scheduled
\nto visit the newly opened Fruit Park in Bogor, West Java, before
\nleaving for Bali tomorrow.<\/p>\n
The delegates will spend two days in the resort island before
\nreturning home on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Micronesia, an archipelago in the Pacific, has a population of
