'Michael' has two-pronged mission<\/p>\n

The earthquake and tidal waves that devastated parts of Aceh
\nand North Sumatra have motivated people to lend a hand to help
\nsurvivors.<\/p>\n
Many different events have been held to raise money for the
\nrebuilding of destroyed areas.<\/p>\n
Among these was a charity concert by Michael Learns
\nto Rock (MLTR), titled A Tribute to Aceh and North Sumatra.<\/p>\n
The Danish music group performed on Feb. 2 at Senayan indoor
\ntennis court, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Guitarist Mikkel Lentz said that the earthquake and tsunamis
\nwere a great tragedy.<\/p>\n
\"We were really sad because we have been to Indonesia before
\nand we like the people here; that is why we have to help them,\"
\nhe added.<\/p>\n
He said he wished that MLTR could help more, like going to
\nAceh. But for now, that was not possible yet.<\/p>\n
Group vocalist Jascha Richter said they realized they could
\nnot do much other than play their music. They also hoped the
\ncharity concert would provide some cheer for the Acehnese and put
\na smile back on their faces. That was how they hoped to make a
\ncontribution to the relief effort.<\/p>\n
The charity concert is part of MLTR's world tour to promote
\ntheir new album, Take Me to Your Heart. The concert was attended
\nabout 2,000 MLTR fans, most aged over 25. It started with a song
\nfrom their new album, Without Your Love, and continued with How
\nMany Hours? Salvation, Love Will Never Lie, Final Destination, I
\nStill Carry On, and some old songs from previous albums, like The
\nActor, Out Of The Blue, Breaking My Heart and Someday.<\/p>\n
Dressed in a dark blue T-shirt, Richter gave a great
\nperformance, although he did not talk much to the audience. He
\namazed the audience with his melancholic voice in a solo
\nperformance of Naked Like The Moon.<\/p>\n
Lentz caught the attention of the audience with his smile and
\nguitar playing. Drummer Kare Wanscher kept up a high-energy
\nperformance, even though his face and body were dripping with
\nsweat.<\/p>\n
In this concert, they also covered Take On Me by AHA and Jump
\nby Van Halen. This added a livelier touch to the overall
\natmosphere of romantic ambience.<\/p>\n
The concert closed with That's Why, a song that was popular in
\n1995. The pace was quite fast, as they sang 22 songs in less than
\n2 hours.<\/p>\n
According to Buena Produktama president director, promoter
\nPeter Basuki, Rp 50,000 will be donated to the Indonesian Red
\nCross for each ticket sold. This will be used to pay for medical
\nand health assistance, vital in Aceh at present.<\/p>\n
Besides their five-concert tour around Indonesia, Buena
\nProduktama will hold a tsunami charity concert in Surabaya. There
\nwill also be an auction of items from the group. Buena Produktama
\nexpects to raise at least Rp 200 million from the event in
\nSurabaya. This will all be donated to disaster relief in Aceh.<\/p>",
