Mia gets another chance<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) is
\nallowing top women's shuttler Mia Audina to prepare for the
\nSudirman Cup and World Championships next month despite
\ncomplaints over her undisciplined behavior.<\/p>\n
\"We are giving a second chance to Mia to show her form during
\nher training here. I will personally observe her training and
\nother athletes prepared for both major events,\" PBSI vice
\nchairman Agus Wirahadikusumah said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Agus denied PBSI would not sanction the 19-year-old shuttler,
\nwho recently returned from the Netherlands after marrying
\nSurinamese boyfriend Tylio Lobman on March 30.<\/p>\n
\"If Mia can't show improvement during her training and perform
\nsatisfactorily in both simulations for the events by the end of
\nthis month, we may dismiss her or drop her from the country's
\nsquad for next month's event,\" he said.<\/p>\n
PBSI will stage simulation matches on April 23 at the Armed
\nForces Headquarters stadium in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, and on
\nApril 28 at the National Badminton Center in Cipayung, East
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
Agus said punishment, which might be meted out by PBSI after
\nthe simulation, would show to other shuttlers the organization
\ndid not discriminate in its treatment of athletes.<\/p>\n
\"Anybody who is undisciplined must be punished,\" he was quoted
\nby Antara as saying.<\/p>\n
Agus said he asked Mia to explain her three-week absence from
\ntraining, but he declined to discuss her response.<\/p>\n
The 1996 Olympic singles silver medalist skipped training
\nafter a quarterfinals loss at the All England championships last
\nmonth. She told coach Liang Chiusia that she was getting married
\nin the Netherlands but she did not inform PBSI officials. She
