The Mohammad Hoesni Thamrin (MHT) Journalism Award 2026 has\nintroduced a new category titled Bank Jakarta Financial Literacy. This\nspecial category is the result of a collaboration between the Indonesian\nJournalists Association (PWI) Jaya and Bank Jakarta to encourage the\ncreation of journalistic works that raise issues of financial literacy\nand the role of the banking sector in regional development.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of PWI Jaya, Kesit B Handoyo, stated that the addition\nof the new category is an effort to broaden the thematic scope of the\nannual journalism event, which has served as a platform for appreciating\nmedia professionals. Through this category, he expressed hope that\njournalists will produce works that are not only of high quality but\nalso capable of providing a broader understanding of banking\u2019s\ncontribution to economic development.<\/p>\n
\u2018The press has an important role in conveying accurate, educational,\nand beneficial information to the public,\u2019 Kesit said in Jakarta on\nWednesday (10\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to him, the new category will also open up space for\njournalists to explore various issues, ranging from the digital\ntransformation of banking and the empowerment of MSMEs to the\ncontribution of financial institutions in supporting Jakarta\u2019s economic\ngrowth. He noted that many aspects of these issues remain\nunexplored.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bank Jakarta President Director Agus H Widodo welcomed the\nintroduction of the category. He believes the media plays a crucial role\nin conveying information that can improve public understanding of\nfinancial services.<\/p>\n
