Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 The Metro Jaya Regional Police launched the \u2018Keep\nJakarta Clean and Beautiful\u2019 movement as an effort to cultivate an\nenvironmentally aware culture within the police from the ground up,\nstarting with waste sorting in the workplace.<\/p>\n
The activity began with a roll-call ceremony at the Presisi Stadium\nof the Metro Jaya Regional Police on Saturday, led by Deputy Chief of\nMetro Jaya Police, Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono.<\/p>\n
\u2018This morning, the Metro Jaya Police force conducted the\nwaste-sorting launch roll-call as a follow-up to the order of the Chief\nof Police,\u2019 he said in Jakarta on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Dekananto explained that the movement will be carried out across all\nlevels, from the Polda to the Polres and Polsek under their respective\njurisdictions.<\/p>\n
He noted that the launch is not merely ceremonial, but a first step\ntoward building a new habit of keeping the environment clean.<\/p>\n
The programme is also aligned with government policies on urban waste\nmanagement and efforts to raise collective awareness to sort waste from\nthe source.<\/p>\n
\u2018Hari ini Bapak Kapolda dan seluruh jajaran, termasuk Polres dan\nPolsek, juga melakukan pencanangan pilah sampah sebagai bagian dari\nbudaya bersih dan asri di lingkungan Polda Metro Jaya,\u2019 katanya.<\/p>\n
In the event, about 1,000 personnel from 29 satker of Polda Metro\nJaya participated.<\/p>\n
Additionally, 2,440 personnel from 13 Polres and 2,939 from 102\nPolsek were involved.<\/p>\n
After the roll-call, personnel immediately moved to engage in\ncleanliness activities and environmental tidy-up around the Metro Jaya\nPolice area.<\/p>\n
Similar activities were also carried out simultaneously by the Polres\nand Polsek units in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya.<\/p>\n
Not only police personnel were involved; the Metro Jaya Police also\ninvited representatives from community organizations in Jakarta and its\nsurroundings as a form of collaboration between the Polri and the\ncommunity in keeping the environment clean.<\/p>\n
\u2018Polda Metro Jaya bersama masyarakat mari kita bahu-membahu dan\nbersinergi dalam persoalan sampah ini,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
As a tangible action, Polda Metro Jaya has provided segregated waste\nbins at various points.<\/p>\n
In total, 465 segregated waste bin units were prepared within the\nMetro Jaya environment, 123 units at the affiliated Polres, and 233\nunits at the affiliated Polsek.<\/p>\n
The waste-bin facilities are divided into three types: organic,\nnon-organic, and hazardous and toxic materials (B3).<\/p>\n
Providing these facilities is expected to encourage personnel to\nhabituate to sorting waste consistently and sustainably.<\/p>\n
Dekananto emphasised that the waste issue may seem simple, but it can\nbecome a major problem if not managed properly. Therefore, a culture of\ncleanliness must be built from the nearest environment and carried out\ncontinuously.<\/p>\n
\u2018The waste issue may seem simple, but if we do not manage it\nproperly, consistently and sustainably, it will become a major problem,\u2019\nhe said.<\/p>\n
He added that the Jaga Jakarta Bersih dan Asri movement is part of\nthe Metro Jaya Police\u2019s commitment to be present in a humane manner in\nsociety.<\/p>\n
Polri is not only tasked with maintaining security and public order\n(kamtibmas), but also with promoting environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n
\u2018Polri wants to continue to present a humane face, not only in\nmaintaining kamtibmas, but also through care for the environment.
