        "content": "<p>Merpati to serve S'pore<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Garuda Indonesia will increase its flights to<br>\nLos Angeles in the United States next week, while Merpati<br>\nNusantara, its subsidiary, will start serving Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday Merpati will start a direct flight connecting<br>\nBandung in West Java with Singapore, using a Fokker 28 aircraft<br>\nwhich can accommodate 80 passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Several officials will be on board Merpati's first flight,<br>\nincluding Secretary of the Directorate of Air Transportation T.B.<br>\nMatoulang, two Merpati directors, Ridwan Fatarudin and Budiarto<br>\nSubroto, and legislator M. Diran.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia and Singapore signed an air agreement last month,<br>\nallowing each other to increase flight services between the two<br>\ncountries.<\/p>\n<p>Garuda, in the meantime, will extend its flights to Los<br>\nAngeles from four to five times a week on Oct. 30.<\/p>\n<p>The national carrier will use only MD-11 aircraft to serve the<br>\nJakarta-Los Angeles route, which is now also served by B-747-200<br>\nCombi.
